Laser Hair Removal Malaysia at Dr. Jane Clinic

Updated: Oct 21

How Is Laser Hair Removal Different at Dr. Jane Clinic?

Laser hair removal at Dr Jane Clinic is treated using Motus Moveo Ax Laser. Motus Moveo Laser is the latest alexandrite Laser in the market, to target hair removal.

Traditional alexandrite laser is emitted via a gun-like handpiece, it emits a coolant (cool air) in a fraction of a second, right before or after the laser is emitted. Most people describe this experience as painful, not to mention, individuals will smell laser hair vapor.

Due to this delivery system as well, traditional alexandrite laser is not suitable for darker skin tones.

With Motus Moveo AX Laser, we are using the fastest laser available for laser hair removal, eliminating unpleasant pain while broadening the treatment option to everyone with different skin tones. Yes, Motus Moveo can treat light and darker skin tones.

What Are The Possible Side Effects of Laser Hair Removal?

Rare though not uncommon, any laser hair removal can cause skin colour changes. It might darken or lighten on the affected area. This change happens in the first couple of days after the treatment and it is usually temporary and must be treated soonest to avoid further damage.

How Do I Prepare for Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

We recommend that you shave the area, 1 day in advance. In case you accidentally have a cut, then it gives your skin some time to heal prior to laser hair removal treatment.

Please do not wax, pluck or tweeze hairs on the treating area before or after laser hair removal treatments. By waxing, plucking and tweezing, you remove the hair follicles, which will stimulate the root to produce better regrowth of the follicle. On top of that, the laser targets the hairs roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing, plucking and tweezing.

What Happens During Laser Hair Removal?

The treatment is done in a specific private room for laser hair removal. The treated area will be cleansed, mark and laser gel will be applied prior to treatment. Due to the advanced laser hair removal machine that we used, you will not smell laser hair vapour or feel “rubber-band snapping” during the treatment.

Due to the slow release of energy by Motus Moveo AX, laser hair removal at Dr Jane Clinic is minimal to no pain. Most people do not feel anything during the treatment, some may experience tingling sensation.

Once the treatment is complete, the laser gel is removed and skin is cleaned. We then apply our favourite body lotion and/or sun block over the treated area to protect your skin.

What To Expect After Laser Hair Removal?

You might notice redness and swelling around the hair follicles for the first couple of hours after laser hair removal.

Treated skin area will feel drier than usual after laser treatment, we recommend to apply body lotion over the treated area to prevent skin irritation.

It is necessary to avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area. Use a broad sunblock with at least SPF50 daily. We recommend Dr Jane Skincare - Skin Defense (Click here to view).

You might notice hairs on the treated area start to shed over a period of days to weeks. Regular treatments are necessary because hair growth and loss naturally occur in a cycle. You will notice that the hair grows finer, slower and lighter in colour.

How Often Should I Have Laser Hair Removal?

It is recommended to have regular treatments once a month (or every 4 weeks) to remove the initial hair. Then after, to maintain a long term hairless solution, to have maintenance treatment once a few months. This can vary very widely as it depends on the area, face or body area and skin tone.
